Crescendo Elite Academy and Educational Vision

At Crescendo Elite Clarinet and Saxophone Academy, founded in 2012, Dr. Qian has created one of the nation’s leading pre-college training programs. Widely recognized as the “Home of All-Staters and Band Leaders,” the Academy offers both in-person and online instruction for elite students, college musicians, and adult learners worldwide.

The curriculum blends technical mastery, musical expression, chamber collaboration, and evidence-based cognitive methods designed to help students — including those with ADD or ADHD symptoms or struggle with excessive screen time — achieve sustained focus and holistic growth through music.

Under Qian’s guidance, Crescendo students have earned No. 1 rankings in the Texas Music Educators Association’s 6A All-State Bass Clarinet (2025), 6A All-State Eb Clarinet (2024), and 3A All-State Bb Clarinet (2025). His pupils have won the Minnesota Orchestra Concerto Competition, captured prizes at International Clarinet Association Competitions, and performed as soloists on NPR’s From the Top.

Many serve as principal players in the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, TMEA All-State ensembles, and leading 6A high school bands across Lewisville, Plano, Allen, Coppell, and Frisco ISDs. Crescendo alumni have continued on to prestigious institutions — including Harvard, Juilliard, University of Michigan, Oberlin, San Francisco Conservatory, and University of Texas at Austin — pursuing music and other disciplines while remaining active performers.

Beyond his Academy, Qian chairs the VanSickle Family Foundation Private Lesson Grant Program, a GDYO-affiliated initiative providing private-lesson support to young musicians of promise and need. His mission extends beyond musical excellence to leadership, equity, and personal transformation through disciplined artistry.
